YEAR TWO : THESIS YEAR

MFA THESIS 1 & 2 The MFA Thesis core course is structured as both weekly one-on-one meetings with the director/thesis faculty, and occasional meetings with guest critics. Both models provide students with feedback on their Thesis Project and prepares them for working in the field. The Thesis Year begins with research and writing a draft proposal in the summer before Fall term and ends with a Thesis Defense and case study document articulating their process with words and images. MFA Thesis students are expected to continue their engagement with marketplaces outside of class time utilizing skills and experiences learned in the Year One Entrepreneurship course.

THESIS FORMATS The Thesis Formats course begins with development of a Grad Show installation of the student’s Thesis Project. Following the installation and Gallery Talks, the course focuses on professional development related to illustration practice. Understanding and employing good business practices includes networking, communication, marketing, branding, intellectual property, pricing, website/social media use and more. The capstone is a 36+ page case study document articulating their process with words and images
